Resident Evil 4
Players: 1
Genre: Survival Horror
Developer: Capcom
Platform: Gamecube
Gameplay
Resident Evil is back and it's better than ever. Leon, the rookie officer from Resident Evil 2 makes a return. In the past Resident Evils, your main concern were zombies. This is no longer the case, instead they are replaced by enemies who are not only agile but intelligent. They usually like to attack in groups and can even use weapons like pitchforks and axes. Also, combat is also very different from the past. Before you had conserve ammo and fight sparingly. Now, if you see something move, you better shoot it. Every weapon has an aiming laser, so aiming is precise and accurate. The environments are also different. Now you can interact with the environments. Such as climbing up ladders, knocking down ladders, blocking doors, and so much more. You must also collect treasures and money. It can be used to buy new weapons or to upgrade your old weapons from a traveling merchant that you will encounter throughout the game. You now hold your weapons and items in a case. Different items come in all sizes and it's up to you to manage them. For example, a shotgun will take up much more space than a herb will. If something doesn't fit, move stuff around and you can make it fit. You start out with a small case, but you can upgrade it as you make it farther into the game. The cutscenes in this game are very different from the cutscenes in any game. These cinematics are interactive. For instance, if someone comes at you with an axe, you must press a button combination like L+R in order to avoid the attack and stay alive.
Graphics[/u]
These are some of the best graphics I have ever seen in a game. The environments and characters are very detailed that you'll swear they look real.
Sound[/u]
The sound is incredibly enthralling. The voice acting is done well. This is good because it makes the story more interesting. The music is also done very well. The music changes as soon as you encounter an enemy, making the situation feel even more horrific. The sound effects in the game are good too. The sound of a handgun or an axe being thrown at you really add to the experience.
Replayability[/u]
It will be hard to put this game down because it is so much fun. You can try a new game with different weapons. If you start a new game, you can have all your items from your previous files. There are a ton of unlockables. Such as, a harder mode, and three mini games. One mini game goes with the story because you play as Ada, a character who you will encounter in the game. Another mini game is about choosing a character and a stage, killing enemies to get high scores. The last one is in the form of a shooting range. You'll earn money and little collectibles from this one. There are also a ton of guns to unlock from an infinite rocket launcher to a powerful magnum.
Overall[/u]
Resident Evil 4 has no flaws. It is the most fun you'll ever have in a game. Not only is it the best survival game to date, but it's also one of the best games ever created. If you haven't played it yet, I strongly suggest that you do.
